Some good news for the British Islands. American multinational confectionery Mondelez International – which owns Cadbury – announced that some production of Dairy Milk in continental Europe would return to the UK.

If you consider that today is World Nutella Day this is anyway good news. But let’s be honest. Can you figure out the competition in Continental Europe between Belgian, French, Swiss, Austrian, and Italian chocolatiers? You did that? Ok. Now add Cadbury of Britannia to the list and you understand why there is not a lot of sense in producing in the EU and exporting to the only market who would buy it anyway. You never know: they may get stuck at the border and meltdown. Or even worse being charged with some tariffs or duties.

Enjoy the new Krispy Kreme donuts anyway. With Nutella silly!

p.s. Nutella is marketed as “hazelnut cream” in many countries. Under Italian law, it cannot be labeled as a “chocolate cream”, as it does not meet minimum cocoa solids concentration criteria. High standards. Unshackled 🙂
